HOW DID YOU MEET YOUR SPOUSE?

Charles and I both attended University of North Texas, where we met in the Department of Music. Through our friends who were match-makers, we came to know each other. We both grew up in Dallas, Texas: Charles, a Baptist—Me—a Methodist, but we both loved gospel music and were brought up to know God’s Word and believe in the Lord and His Word. Charles was saved at age seven and I was saved during my teen years through the Billy Graham TV ministry. Our local churches were instrumental in helping us mature in the Christian faith. We have served in churches for 50 years plus.

WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST JOY IN MINISTRY?

Knowing that the music I select for a worship service leads people to both commit to Christ’s offer of salvation and to grow in the knowledge of Jesus and His Work on the cross. I love helping to equip others in ministry.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING IN YOUR FREE TIME?

Being with our children, grandchildren and our grand-dogs! We enjoy movies based on historical events.

WHAT IS YOUR LIFE VERSE?

Proverbs 3:5-6

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK OR PASSAGE IN THE BIBLE?

Philippians

WHAT MUSIC DO YOU LIKE TO LISTEN TO?

Although receiving a music degree from The University of Texas, where I studied classical music, my parents were gospel music lovers, and I learned to love southern gospel music at an early age. My father was Music Editor at the Stamps-Baxter Music Publishing Co., and my mother was my first piano teacher.

Bill Gaither is one of my favorite gospel composers. We sang as a family, especially in the summers when we would teach “singing” schools.
